Apolo: A Bright Brand Identity by Monotypo Studio
Published Apr 24, 2025
When it comes to branding, simplicity with intent often leaves the strongest impression. Monotypo Studio’s work for Apolo, a furniture and design store by Mexican designer Andrés Gutierrez, is a perfect example. The brand’s identity draws directly from the name “Apollo,” a deity historically tied to art, beauty and cosmic order. This connection is cleverly interpreted through visual elements like a graphic sun that represents both Apollo’s mythology and the store’s focus on design innovation.
The solar disk, used as a dynamic symbol across the designs, feels alive, changing forms to reflect movement and energy. It’s a smart way to capture the idea of evolution and creativity, which aligns perfectly with a store that celebrates contemporary design. The studio says that the brand’s bold edge also draws from Kubrick’s aesthetic, including elements reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange.
