Analog vs Digital: Contrived Objects by Leonardo Ulian

Published Apr 8, 2024

In his Contrived Objects series, Italian artist Leonardo Ulian navigates between the past and the present, blending analog and digital elements in an unexpected and thought-provoking way.

The series emerged during quarantine, when Ulian started transforming vintage tennis rackets into canvases for intricate assemblages of found electronic components. This transformation involves a meticulous process of embedding electronic components such as copper wires and microchips into the racket’s strings. The result is a harmonious collision where the old and the new coexist in a delicate balance.

You can explore the complete Contrived Objects collection on Leonardo’s website.
