American Bison in Winter: Sarfraz Durrani’s Striking Portraits from Yellowstone
Published Sep 16, 2025
Virginia-based photographer Sarfraz Durrani returns with another powerful series, this time capturing the resilience and quiet majesty of American bison as they navigate the harsh snowy landscapes of Yellowstone National Park.
Sarfraz, who balances a career as a heart electrophysiologist with his passion for photography, approaches nature with a unique perspective, finding beauty in order, rhythm and resilience. In this series, he moves between intimate close-ups and sweeping vistas, portraying the bison as both vulnerable and monumental. Each frame reflects the brutal reality of survival while also revealing the timeless grace of these amazing animals.
