Adagio: Floral Experiments by Cheuk Lun Lo & Vanessa Lyu
Published Nov 24, 2025
Photographer Cheuk Lun Lo worked in collaboration with floral artist Vanessa Lyu to produce this incredible series of botanical experiments. Adagio, a Deformed Comfort turns flowers into stitched-together hybrids, using petals, threads and delicate grafts to explore themes of fragility, pressure and emotional repair.
The unique pieces in this series look like blooms caught between collapse and reconstruction. Petals are sutured with coarse cotton thread, forming visible seams that hint at wounds, healing and the effort of holding oneself together. The works sit in the shadow of depression and self-salvation, turning floral arrangements into metaphors for the inner tensions that often go unseen.
It’s a haunting and beautifully constructed body of work, using the language of floristry and photography to reflect on the emotional stitching we all do, whether anyone notices or not.
