I’ve spent time with a few of JSAUX’s docking stations for PC handhelds in the past, including the 6-in-1 Docking Station for the ROG Ally X, so the new 7-in-1 Multifunctional Docking Station for Switch 2 felt immediately familiar right out of the box. It’s the same two-piece modular concept, but this time redesigned for Nintendo’s console instead of a Windows handheld.

What’s in the box

Inside the box, you’ll find the 7-in-1 dock unit and its base stand, as well as a user manual and warranty card. The standard version I’ve got here, priced at $39.99, doesn’t come with a wall charger, but JSAUX does offer a bundle with a 65W charger and USB-C charging cable for $59.99.

Design & Build Quality

The official Nintendo Switch 2 dock does its job well, but it is not exactly portable or generous when it comes to connectivity. JSAUX’s alternative gives you all the ports you’ll need, in a compact form factor with a detachable multiport USB-C hub that you can easily take with you anywhere.

It includes one HDMI 2.1 port, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB-A ports, one USB-C data port and a separate USB-C PD input. Each of the three peripheral ports supports transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps, while the power input can take up to 100W.

The overall design will look familiar to anyone who has used one of their previous modular docks for PC handhelds, like the 6-in-1 model or their 7-in-1 RGB Cooling Dock. This Switch 2 edition inherits most of their strengths (minus the cooling fan and RGB), while introducing a redesigned base that connects directly to the USB-C port on the bottom of Nintendo’s console.

A spring-loaded plastic element around the USB-C connector presses down when the Switch 2 is placed into the base unit, exposing more of the metal connector and making the handheld easier to attach. A few small rubber pads add a bit of grip and stability, but since the base is as narrow as the ones used on JSAUX’s other modular docks, it doesn’t keep the handheld super steady. That said, you don’t have to worry about it getting disconnected or falling out of place at all, it just feels a little wobbly when touched.

Build quality carries over well from the PC handheld versions: the same solid ABS and PC construction, and the same DIY customization slot for a personalized insert card between the front cover and the dock body.

The modular design is still the dock’s best trick. Detach the dock unit from the base and you’ve got a much smaller, pocketable hub which can also be used for a laptop, tablet or phone with USB-C. And unlike some docks that are not compatible with a protective case, this one docks the Switch 2 easily with or without a case (provided the case is under 3mm thick).

Performance

In TV mode, the dock’s output tops out at 4K/60Hz on Switch 2. This isn’t a JSAUX limitation, but a ceiling Nintendo has set on the console’s own HDMI output regardless of dock. All the ports behaved exactly as expected in my testing, and both the dock and handheld ran cool even during longer play sessions, thanks to the dock’s open design.

One thing worth flagging for anyone considering this: Switch 2 charging through the dock is capped at 30W (matching Nintendo’s own dock), and TV mode specifically needs at least a 65W charger connected to actually drive the HDMI output, which is why JSAUX also sells the dock bundled with one.

The 7-in-1 Docking Station for Switch 2 carries over the same solid build, modular flexibility and reliable port selection, only this time with a base stand and connector reworked to suit Nintendo’s hardware.

It’s a versatile, well-built option at a much lower price than Nintendo’s official dock, particularly for anyone looking for a secondary setup they can easily move between rooms or take with them while traveling.
