Epomaker makes keyboards in just about every shape and style imaginable, but the Luma100 feels noticeably different from much of their lineup. Instead of a chunky case or elaborate retro-inspired design, this is a slim, minimalist low-profile keyboard with a 96% layout, an aluminum frame and a clean look that neatly combines white, silver and purple.
\n\n\n\nThe design immediately reminded me of some of NuPhy’s low-profile boards, which isn’t a bad thing. There’s a similar focus on keeping everything thin, colorful and visually tidy, but the Luma100 still has enough character to stand on its own.
\n\n\n\nPriced at $119, it also packs in plenty behind that sleek exterior. You get Epomaker’s Mint low-profile linear switches, a gasket-mounted structure with multiple layers of sound dampening, tri-mode connectivity, hot-swappable switches, per-key RGB and full VIA support.

As always, Epomaker includes a pretty comprehensive collection of accessories, and they’ve gone even further with the Luma100. Alongside the keyboard itself, you get a detachable USB-A to USB-C cable, 2.4GHz wireless dongle, two spare switches, a combined switch and keycap puller, additional keycaps, a set of taller rubber feet, a cleaning cloth and the usual documentation.

On top of that, they even included a carrying case with this one, which is not something you see that often, particularly at this price point. The faux-leather case looks quite nice, matching the white and purple color scheme of the board.

The small set of replacement keycaps includes Windows and Mac keys alongside white Escape and Enter keys, allowing you to tone the whole thing down and create an entirely white keyboard if you prefer. I tried both options and the all-white version looks very sleek, but I think I prefer the purple accents here. They give the Luma100 a unique visual identity without making it feel overly colorful.

There’s no slot for the 2.4GHz receiver around the case. Instead, this little dongle is attached directly onto the included charging cable, so you can keep the two together without worrying too much about losing it. I would have preferred a storage slot on the board itself, but I can see why this would be tricky to pull off, as the case has a very slim profile.

The Luma100 is a beautiful keyboard. The minimalist design and anodized aluminum frame give the board a premium feel, with the purple accent keys bringing in a bit of personality. This white-and-purple keycap combo is what gives the Luma100 a distinctive look, and it works extremely well against the aluminum case.

As mentioned previously, you can also turn it into a full white board by using the replacement keycaps included in the box. I did that for most of my testing, particularly to help show off the nicely implemented RGB lighting (more on that later).

In terms of build quality, the Luma100 feels solid and well put together, but without the considerable weight that often comes with aluminum mechanical keyboards. This is a light board that’s easy to carry and move around between setups, and the included storage case makes sense if you want to take it between home and the office.
\n\n\n\nThe 96% layout is also a great fit for this design. Everything is packed fairly tightly together, with the arrow keys and navigation controls sitting directly alongside the number pad. That keeps the footprint relatively small while retaining most of the keys people actually use on a full-size board. It can definitely take a little adjustment if you’re coming from a traditional layout, but having mostly used compact boards recently, I felt at home pretty quickly.

The RGB lighting adds another layer without dominating the design, and it looks particularly clean shining through the light-colored keycaps. There are plenty of effects to choose from too, so if RGB is your thing, you won’t be disappointed.

There’s also a small RGB light strip on the top-right corner of the frame. By default, it runs through an animated rainbow effect, but just like the key backlighting, you can customize it with different colors and effects.

Around the back edge, you’ll find the USB-C port alongside a simple on/off switch, both neatly out of sight when the keyboard is sitting on your desk.

Flipping the board over, there are four thin rubber feet that do a good job of keeping it planted on the desk, and Epomaker also includes a set of taller feet in the box that can be attached to the bottom for a more traditional typing angle.

The Epomaker Mint switches are low-profile linears, and they feel smooth, light and responsive. The shorter travel makes it easy to move between keys, while still providing enough feedback to avoid feeling like you’re simply typing on a laptop keyboard.

The switches are hot-swappable too, so you aren’t permanently tied to the Mint linears if you eventually want something different. Just keep in mind that this is a low-profile board, so your switch choices are more limited than they would be with a conventional MX-style mechanical keyboard. Epomaker lists compatibility with selected 3-pin and 5-pin low-profile mechanical switches.
\n\n\n\nWhile we’re at it, one thing worth mentioning is that removing a keycap on this board often pulls the switch out along with it. They don’t seem to be fixed as firmly as on other taller-profile boards I’ve tested recently. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does mean you should go a little slower and be more careful than you would on a standard mechanical keyboard.
\n\n\n\nAnother thing worth noting is that the Luma100 is mostly flat, with no built-in kickstand to adjust your typing angle. Epomaker gets around this by including a set of taller feet in the box, so if you want some lift for a more pronounced typing angle, you can use those instead of the stock feet. It’s not ideal for anyone who likes experimenting with different angles, but I’m glad Epomaker included the taller feet as an option here. The flat angle didn’t bother me at all, and my own time with the Luma100 was very positive. I’ve spent a few weeks typing on it as my daily driver and found the experience quite comfortable.

The Luma100 also sounds really good. Low-profile keyboards can sometimes feel a little hollow or thin compared to their full-height counterparts, but that isn’t the case here. Epomaker has built the board around a gasket-mounted plate and a five-layer dampening system designed to suppress resonance and unwanted case noise, and it works. The Luma100 has a satisfying sound with enough character to remind you that you’re using a mechanical keyboard without becoming distracting. It isn’t particularly loud either, which makes the Luma100 a much easier recommendation for an office or shared workspace than something with a more aggressive sound profile.

The Luma100 offers the standard trio of connection options, with USB-C for wired use, a 2.4GHz receiver for low-latency wireless connectivity and Bluetooth for pairing with laptops, tablets and other devices. Three Bluetooth slots are available, and switching between devices is handled directly from the keyboard using Fn shortcuts, all clearly labeled on the keycaps.

On battery life, Epomaker doesn’t share an official runtime figure for the 3000mAh cell, but in my testing, that was enough to get roughly a week of use with the RGB lighting switched on, which is a solid result. Turning the lighting off entirely would surely stretch that further, but I didn’t test it that way to get an exact number. Similar to other Epomaker models, there’s also a handy keyboard shortcut (Fn + Enter) that displays an approximate charge level using the number row.

On the software side, the Luma100 uses VIA, which is the popular open-source tool used across a lot of the enthusiast keyboard world. VIA lets you remap keys, create macros, modify layers and customize other functions through a browser-based interface. You’ll need to download and load Epomaker’s JSON configuration file first, but once that is done the process is straightforward.

The Luma100 is one of those keyboards that gets the fundamentals right without needing a gimmick to make itself interesting. It looks fantastic, feels premium and delivers an excellent typing experience out of the box.
\n\n\n\nIt also has the convenience of tri-mode connectivity, VIA-compatibility for far more customization than most users will ever need, and hot-swappable switches that will give you some room to experiment later.
\n\n\n\nIf you’re set on a heavier, thockier typing experience, or you like experimenting with typing angles, this probably isn’t the board for you. The Luma100 is best for the low-profile convert, someone who’s already comfortable with a laptop-style layout but wants a more tactile and satisfying experience, with mechanical switches, RGB lighting and plenty of flexibility. It’s also a strong pick for anyone who wants a keyboard that looks at home in a minimalist, all-white or Apple-adjacent desk setup, and who values portability enough to actually use the included carrying bag.
