Abstract Wooden Sculptures by Adam Detre
Published Nov 1, 2021
UK-based artist Adam Detre manipulates large pieces of wood to create intriguing sculptural pieces.
“Each series seeks to design, test and evaluate a unique visual language, which may have formed over several years or could be a snapshot of a new concept. Every piece implements the principles of these languages with variations on the same theme. Theoretically, each new sculpture within a series is a development of the previous piece.
Adam consciously does not add colour as an embellishment, preferring to use light as an external stimulus to create texture, detail and visual allure. ‘The negative space is as valuable as the positive space. The shadows are as valuable as the highlights. Their dance is what creates the truest beauty’.”
