Volkswagen Formula XL1 Concept
Published Jan 23, 2012
Outstanding hybrid car concept unveiled by Volkswagen at the Qatar Motor Show last year. Volkswagen is now ready to go ahead and have the XL1 enter production, which will be limited to 100 units.
“Far more production-ready than the company’s past one-liter efforts, the XL1 is powered by a hybrid two cylinder TDI engine and electric motor/lithium ion battery pairing, and features a seven-speed dual clutch DSG transmission, side-by-side seating, wing-style doors, carbon fibre reinforced polymer parts throughout the body, and the ability to go around 20 miles without needing any gas at all.”
